Harry Edward Styles is an English singer, songwriter, and musician. He was a member of One Direction. Born at Holmes Chapel (Cheshire), England 1 February 1994, he is the son of Des Styles, and Anne Cox. Harry Styles attended the Holmes Chapel Comprehensive school where together with three students, he founded his own group of musicians, called White Eskimo. Their outstanding performances allowed them to beat the Battle of Bands 2009. He always had an interest in the arts, however he also wished to pursue a career as an attorney, physiotherapist or even scout. As a worker at the city's baker Harry Styles managed to provide for his family. Harry Styles was selected for The X Factor 2010 audition in which he performed Stevie Wonder's hit song Is not She Lovely. His band was forced to break up due to the fact that they were selected. Following the audition on The X Factor the jury Nicole Scherzinger suggested that Harry Styles be part of the group that was to be called One Direction along with Liam Payne Zayn Malik Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson. Simon Cowell sponsored this five-person group and they were formed in 2010. They performed tracks such as My Life Would Suffer Without You which was written by Kelly Clarkson, and Total Eclipse of the Heart, by Bonnie Tyler during the competition. This made the group one of the potential winners to win the award. But they came in third place, just behind Rebecca Ferguson. Harry Styles did not receive any cash prize. However, Cowell has offered a two million-pound contract with One Direction in order for them to join Syco Records.
